Adam Guillain
Adam Guillain started his career as a singer-songwriter, performing in a 10-piece Latin-influenced pop band. He then became a primary school teacher before learning Kiswahili and working with Voluntary Services Overseas and local teachers and communities on the island of Zanzibar. It’s there that Adam met his wife, Charlotte.
After their return to the UK, Adam and Charlotte began writing. Adam’s first novel Bella Balistica and the Temple of Tikal was published in 2001, and soon afterwards, he became writer-in-residence at the Roald Dahl Story Centre. From there, Adam went on to co-found Storytelling Schools, offering training to teachers and supporting pupils develop their oracy and writing skills through storytelling. Today, Adam is Creative Lead and presenter at Dewey – writing fun scripts, stories and songs for an app and learning tool featuring top CBeebies presenters to support school readiness for pupils and parents. (Publishing October 2024) Adam has written and co-written over 200 books for children. Over the next two years, he has three comedic multi-book series, co-authored with Charlotte, publishing with Hachette and Ladybird. On any day of the week, Adam can usually be found alongside Charlotte in their little writing office and home recording studio at the bottom of the garden, surrounded by musical instruments. He’s always writing something!
