Andy Boon

Andy Boon is an ELT author, university professor, and international speaker based in Tokyo, Japan. Originally from the UK, he has spent over twenty-eight years teaching English and developing materials for learners and teachers around the world.

He has written more than 50 graded readers, including the travel series 10 Things to See and Do, the life-skills series 10 Ways To, and fiction titles such as the horror story Lake of the Drowned and the thriller Zombies in Tokyo. His stories aim to combine engaging topics, suspense, and real-world themes with language that is accessible and motivating for English learners.

Andy also writes textbooks and professional articles for teachers, with a particular interest in critical thinking and the role of new technologies such as AI in language education. He regularly gives talks and workshops internationally, sharing practical ideas for developing curiosity, communication, and independent thinking in the language classroom.

When he is not teaching or writing, Andy enjoys listening to music, playing the guitar, travelling, eating a good curry, and walking along the river, where he often finds inspiration for new stories.
